"Perhaps I'm old and tired, but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied." -Douglas Adams

Happy October!

October 1st, 2009

3 more months until 2010!

Wait. No one else is counting down the days until this dreadful year is over?

Anyway this upcoming weekend is the last weekend of soccer for the season. YAY! Don’t get me wrong, I like soccer, I like the game, I like watching, I like that my kids are active and learning good sportsmanship and all that jazz but I’m a wee bit tired of it. It probably didn’t help that that we had 4 weekly practices and at least 2 games each weekend. Too much of a good thing is… too much.

Normal

My favorite quote at the moment:

“We have normality. I repeat, we have normality. Anything you still can’t cope with is therefore your own problem.” -Douglas Adams

Sunday Sunday

September 27th, 2009

I think I may have overbooked our Sunday.

In a few minutes, I need to pick Zach up, he was camping with the Boy Scouts over the weekend. Then onto Mass, then the twins have a Girl Scout meeting, then I bought advance movie tickets for “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” (I even splurged for the 3D version), and finally Zach has religion class (the middle school meets Sunday night while the other kids are after school on Mondays).

Somewhere along the line I need to finish up a nursing paper (due tomorrow), read a chapter of psychology (also tomorrow), and study for a physiology test (Tuesday). Laundry needs to be done for the week and I think I have report card envelopes to sign somewhere around here.

It’ll be a good day though as long as I keep my caffeine intake up! :)

They say it’s your birthday

September 25th, 2009

(I’m mostly putting this up here so everyone who feels the need to make a ‘happy birthday’ comment can do so in one place. I like organization like that.)

So it’s been a good day. The kids gave me handmade cards (love!) this morning and Starbucks gave me a free drink (love!) My mom and dad bought me a college sweatshirt from where I now attend, thank you! I’m wearing it right now because even though I’m super cheery and sunny, the weather here is actually more drizzly and cool. And in Econ, not only did I get an A on the first test, we were let out of class early today. Neither of which happened because it was my birthday but it was nice anyways.

Later I’m treating myself to a pedicure and then going out to dinner with the kids (probably Steak-n-Shake). And finally I’m going out for drinks with a bunch of friends.

Right now I’m thinking about doing some sock knitting and watching The Office from last night. If only I had remembered to buy bonbons…

Happy Friday to everyone!

Edit to add: Thanks to my mother-in-law and sister-in-law for the gift cards! I was just saying I needed to update my iTunes library and Starbucks is always appreciated!

Living life in a roundabout

September 23rd, 2009

Pretty pretty sparkly new blog that I’m completely (unintentionally) ignoring…

How’s things?

It’s going.

I’m still digging out from the mess from last week (catching up on school, catching up on business orders, catching up on life) but I’m almost out of the hole. Just in time for another avalanche of weird shit to fall on me. (I’m such a Pollyanna.)

I’m sleeping more at least. 11pm to 6:30am, 7.5 hours, woohoo!

I’d just like to ask the universe to somehow prevent morning exchanges like this one:

Twin 1, screaming: You saw my foot, why did you step on it? *dramatic crying*
Twin 2, completely nonchalant, brushing her hair: I went to get my shoes and didn’t see your foot.
Me: *wtf*
Twin 1, muttering: ….
Me: What’s going on?
Twin 1 (here’s where I made the mistake), now realizing she has an audience, turns on the tears and screams: She stepped on my foot! *wailing and gnashing of teeth*
Me: Oy… (to the other twin, still brushing her hair) Did you step on her foot?
Twin 2: I… I… *cries uncontrollably*
Me: *wtf* Why are you crying? You were the one who stepped on her, not the other way around.
Twin 2, her wails matching her sister’s: You are yelling at me and… *sobs*
Me: *wtf* Please go to school now.
Twins 1 & 2: *whining and crying as they walk out the door*

I’m done. Send in the stunt double.

Stitches Midwest pictures

September 16th, 2009

Just a couple of photos and then I really need to get back to studying/laundry folding/Girl Scout planning/moth killing. (There’s a stupid moth flying around the kitchen, I hope the rest is self explanatory.)

Me in the booth (not pictured: a bunch of tote bags to the camera’s left)

What I bought (or was given, namely the Dumpling Bag pattern and the bottom left skein of yarn)
