"Perhaps I'm old and tired, but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied." -Douglas Adams

Um right, Halloween is now days away and the kids’ costumes are…

a. Store bought
b. Done!
c. Halloween?
d. A bunch of fabric sitting in a pile waiting to be cut and sewn.

And the correct answer is ‘d’! Because over achieving and procrastination go so well hand in hand.

Let’s see, this year Zach’s a cereal killer (read aloud if you don’t get it) and technically that one is done (bought him a bloody knife a few weeks ago and he has a box of cereal taped up). Em is going as some candy corn witch (according to the pattern) except she didn’t like the colors of fabric available so the dress will be only orange and black and not really like a candy corn. But she has a black witch’s hat. Ally is going as a ghost. Again. Except slightly different and with $24 worth of gray chiffon (note to self: check price of fabric per yard before agreeing to it). Kyle is Frankenstein which just involves some make-up and destroying some old clothes (easy peasy). Kelly is going as a witch. A traditional witch in black. There are so many adorable options out there and she picks this. *sigh*

I have 6 days. Plenty of time!

So the Halloween costumes will be done on:

a. Wednesday
b. Thursday
c. Friday
d. Saturday at 4:45pm because trick or treating starts at 5pm

(Why do I have the feeling that the answer will be ‘d’ again?)

  1. I was just thinking this morning that we moved into this house on October 30th, 16 years ago, from the apt. we were staying in. I needed Halloween outfits for the boys the next day…and I don’t sew!! ah, the memories! :)

  2. I think I need a new belt for my sewing machine. Simon brought in something that needed patching and the old belt slipped so much I thought it might set off the smoke detectors.

    LOVE the cereal killer idea!
