"Perhaps I'm old and tired, but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied." -Douglas Adams

About

Katie Fleck has been writing and abusing parathesis on the internet since 2003 (Archives). Currently she’s in a RN BSN nursing program (basically a highly educated nurse, graduates May 2013), owns a small sewing business (so small, it’s 1 person and in her bedroom), works as a student nurse on the night shift, and runs after 5 children (see below). In her spare time, she knits, sleeps, and folds laundry.

A little background: grew up in small town Indiana, oldest of 5, daughter of a librarian and engineer, graduated salutatorian of her high school class (a pretty worthless honor expect for learning how to spell salutatorian), did 3 years of bio/chem at Xavier University (Cincinnati OH), had a kid, got married, had 4 more kids (all within 5 years), moved to Maryland (2005-2008), started knitting and created Katie Fleck Designs, moved back to Indiana, divorced, and has continued to wing this thing called Life ever since….

Cast of Characters: (in no particular order)

Zach: son, age 14, plays the trombone and the computer, Boy Scout, enjoys being a smartass and getting away with things due to his charm and smile

Emily: daughter, age 12, older of the twins by 3 minutes, reads like a crazy person, plays the alto and bari sax, Cadette Girl Scout, loves babies and toddlers

Ally: daughter, age 12, younger of the twins by 3 minutes, can talk a person’s ear off, plays the clarinet and baritone clarinet, Cadette Girl Scout, likes to write

Kyle: son, age 9, almost always seen with a Nintendo DS in his hands, understands sarcasm and isn’t afraid to use it, Cub Scout, is probably too smart for his own good

Kelly: daughter, age 8, the Baby and Mini-Me, will literally cart wheel from point A to B, Brownie Girl Scout, loves animals

LYC: current “guy I am dating”, owns a house, Corvette, Harley, power tools, guns and is generally an all around manly man who loves his 17 year old cat to pieces and opens the car door for me EVERY time (awww…)

G: ex-husband of almost 2 years, a decent friend because life’s too short to be bitter and pissed off

Love, Dad: my Dad… Frequent commenter and I lovingly blame my sarcasm and stubbornness on him. ;)

auntie 502: my aunt and godmother, another frequent commenter who I don’t see often enough in person (sorry!)
